Kids should be encouraged to play outdoors – and what better place to motivate them but at the many outdoor playgrounds we have around us!
We searched high and low for the Klang Valley’s best playgrounds. We know you’ll be familiar with a lot of the playgrounds on our list, but we’re hoping you won’t know all of them.
We admit that we’ve left lots of good playgrounds off the list—we had to—but we hope you’ll weigh in to let us know if any of them are favourites of yours. Happy exploring, #makchicmumsquad!

Sports enthusiasts, pet owners and anyone looking for some rest and recreation (we see you, parents with toddlers) – welcome to the latest outdoor park in the Klang Valley!
With diverse sports and waterfront amenities, and a pet-friendly zone with an obstacle course, this park caters to families, fun seekers and furbabies alike. IOI Central Park boasts an open lawn, playground park, jungle track and floral garden among its recreational spaces. Take a sneak peek here!

2. Avenue Kingdom at Bangi Avenue Convention Centre
Families staying around Bangi, Semenyih and Kajang should take the opportunity to come by this excellent new playground! We hear it can get pretty crowded, so parental supervision (especially with the little ones in tow) is a must.

3. TRX City Park
One of makchic’s most viewed reels highlights this 10-acre rooftop park at the The Exchange TRX shopping mall, with 3 exciting kids’ play areas. The park hosts a playground, a ‘play cave’ and a garden, among others.

4. Pusat Sains Negara
Pusat Sains Negara is fairly large and has more than one playground. The uniqueness of this park is the fact that it incorporates science and learning with play – for example, the ‘whispering dome’.
Access to the playground is free, and visitors are welcome to head over to the Science Centre (fee is RM6 for adults and RM3 for children).
Hours: Saturday to Thursdays 9:00am to 5.00pm, Closed on Fridays

5. Publika
The Publika park is small and simple. They have basic activities for kids to take part in but the concept and design of the overall playground is interesting as it has a futuristic feel and is quite avant-garde compared to many other playgrounds. Parents are encouraged to watch their children at all times as no kid is allowed to play without the supervision of an adult in this park.

6. KLCC Park
KLCC Park is fairly large and includes a kiddie park with a water fountain. They have plenty of benches so you can keep an eye on your children with ease. Their security is strict and alert compared to many other playgrounds, however when we went, there were only a few guards on duty.

7. Taman Tasik Titiwangsa
The Taman Tasik Titiwangsa playground is located right across the lake from the park entrance, hence it’s a bit of a walk to get to. There’s an accompanying water play area, as well. Toilets are priced at 50 cents per visit and there are a number of benches and huts for families and parents to relax. When the kids are done with the playground, everyone can rent a bicycle and have fun safely cycling around the dedicated cycling lane!

8. Perdana Botanical Garden Kuala Lumpur
The Perdana Botanical Garden Kuala Lumpur (previously known as Lake Gardens) was originally created as part of a recreational park but planted with collections of tropical plants. The garden has since been rehabilitated and turned into a Botanical Garden, with botanical collections and house features to give visitors the ambiance of being in a tropical rainforest, despite being in the middle of a bustling metropolis.
The park currently is home to a large playground, as well as a coffee shop serving refreshments. There are also security guards on duty, although as always, parents are advised to look after their children.
Hours: 7.00am to 8.00pm

9. Taman Metropolitan Kepong
Taman Metropolitan Park is easy to access. The entrance and parking is free and the playgrounds are not too far from the entrance. It’s quite a hilly location so it’d be best to go prepared and wear comfortable shoes at all times. There is also no security in sight when we went and so parents will have to be extra cautious. Toilets are located near the side entrance, and cost 20 cents per entry.

10. Desa Park City
At Desa Park City, visitors can park their cars at the park or Waterfront mall that is located right next to the park. The playground appears to be small as compared to other playgrounds, but it’s clean and well kept. It also consists of quite interesting rides for children who pass the height regulations. Parents can have a bite at nearby Australian-inspired Jibby by The Park, while keeping a watch from afar, as their kids have fun running wild at the playground.

11. Plaza Arkadia
Just a stone’s throw away from the Desa Park City kids’ playground is Plaza Arkadia’s haven for kids. Their playground is smaller, with a cosy tree house concept and two mini, sunken trampolines- making it suitable for children of all ages to enjoy. When the kids are tired out and would like to rest their little legs, pop over to the Toy World shop for a mini train ride at a price of RM7 (open from 11am to 10pm daily).

12. Gamuda Gardens- Xploria’s Adventure Playland
Nestled within the Gamuda Gardens township is the uniquely designed Adventure Playland playground. This playground offers more than just slides and swings, with zipline and rock climbing elements for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Adventure Playland is also part of Xploria, a fun filled park full of Xciting attractions to Xperience! While some attractions are free, others may need payment and/or pre booking.

13. Sri Hartamas Park
This newly renovated (and popular) park has everything for the entire family- from shiny new exercise equipment and a busy basketball court for fitness enthusiasts, to a fun playground for little adventurers, plus a large skating rink that’s perfect for a spot of rollerblading or bicycling. After a busy day running about the park’s wide open spaces, families can catch a relaxing breather at the park’s lanai area to take in the cool breeze and some friendly neighbourhood chatter.

14. Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya
A spacious park which is a firm favourite among families in Petaling Jaya, Here there are extensive jogging tracks and exercise equipment with a playground for the kids.

15. Taman Aman Park
A nice scenic park with a playground where the kids can release their energy. It is also suitable for walking, cycling and jogging and is surrounded by a tranquil pond.
