We’ve all had our fair share of constructing pretend play scenarios-such as turning bed sheets into makeshift tents for mini campsite scenarios. Let’s swap the blanket fort play for a real camping excursion instead, and head out to the great outdoors for a real adventure! Camping can’t get anymore educational with The Nest, an outdoor adventure and sustainable education training centre.  The Nest’s Serdang camping site is located at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), with lots of exciting and enlightening activities for the whole family.  Time your camping dates so you can join The Nest’s Forest School Program, which has been designed based on United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals (with children as young as 5 being able to join, when accompanied by a parent!) Why not learn about sustainable farming, get acquainted with bushcraft survival skills, or discover facts about wildlife, while you are out amidst nature itself?

2. Dusun Bonda, Batang Kali (Glamping)

Dusun Bonda was created for and with children in mind, starting with an idea brought about by a mother’s love – to create childhood memories for her daughter (Dusun means orchard, and Bonda means mother). Located within a privately owned 2.1 acre fruit orchard, it’s a perfect family retreat with kid-friendly facilities, a serene view by a river and a man-made waterfall and pool.

3. The Sticks, Kuala Kubu Bahru (Glamping)

Spend the night in a cross between a tent and pondok (aka ‘tendok’) at Kuala Kubu Bahru, a town popular for its white water rafting  adventures. All 12 of the houses at The Sticks are special and unique,  each built to a different capacity to reflect a distinct element of its natural surroundings. 4. Tadom Hill Resort, Banting (Glamping)

This sustainable and environmentally friendly resort was built with the indigenous Orang Asli Temuan (who hail from the village of Bukit Tadom) in mind. Tadom Hill Resorts believes in co-existing and operating harmoniously with the environment, and has designed its entire space almost entirely out of bamboo. With this sturdy material being traditionally used by the Orang Asli to build their homes- you can enjoy your stay in your bamboo tent for a cultural (and comfortable) experience!

Just a stone’s throw away from KL is a campsite where you can choose to camp or glamp (or stay in a chalet) by a beautiful flowing river. It’s a perfect weekend getaway for families looking for something simple and fuss free, with most of the accommodation packages including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mornings and afternoons can be spent river tubing, cycling and playing archery, and evenings relaxing over a campfire and barbeque dinner (barbeque boxes are also available for purchase pre trip). 13. Hola Campsite, Cameron Highlands (Camping)

 With two campsites just a five-minute walk away from each other, both Hola 1.0 and Hola 2.0 offer cooling and private camping retreats for your basic camping needs. Located at the peak of Golden Hills, campers will enjoy temperature between 13 degrees Celcius to 26 degrees Celcius and serene, foggy hill views. The area is gated by fences, and toilets with hot showers are available. Do remember to bring your fully-charged power banks, as there won’t be any plug points here.
