1. Let’s Be Nice, The School by Jaya One

In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, The School by Jaya One has embarked on a month-long campaign with the intention to spread kindness and harmony amongst the community. Bring your kids along and check out the Kidpreneurs Weekend Bazaar, which seeks to support single-parent families. There will also be a blood donation drive and a special positivi-tea corner where they encourage you to leave a nice, kind message (with mystery gifts for you on special dates!).

2.Klang River Festival 2023, KongsiKL

KongsiKL presents the Klang River Festival (KRF) 2023, an annual open festival held at various iconic venues around downtown Kuala Lumpur. Engaging activities, such as visual art exhibitions, dialogue sessions, art performances, workshops, creative installations and heritage walks will be organised as part of the festivities. 3.Managing Challenging Behaviours, GSC and The Hope Project

Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), together with non-profit organisation, The Hope Project, will be hosting a free workshop as part of their #LovingAutism campaign, focused on ‘Managing Challenging Behaviours’. If you are a parent or caregiver of someone living with autism, this workshop will be highly beneficial in highlighting how to best manage your loved ones. Hear first hand from Encik Iman Wan, a father who has 22 years of experience caring for his son Adam, who is autistic.

4.LMP Fiesta, Lumi Tropicana

A fun festival with various kid-friendly activities and fitness classes for adults…and best of all, entry is free! Enjoy different types of entertainment, such as a games booth, magic tricks, a bubble station, a giant Jenga set, face painting, cosplay and more. Adults can come dressed in workout gear to enjoy a spot of Zumba, Pilates, FlyJam and Yoga. There is also a live band and DJ in the evenings. 5. SpendLikeLokal Festival 2023

Come and join this two-day festival with over 50 vendors offering a variety of goods, from homemade jewellery and baked goods, to delicious food and scented candles. Bring the whole family and enjoy the art workshops, traditional games and fireworks display at this fun festival.

6.Together, Gather by TalkHealthAsia.com – Online Breast Cancer Awareness Workshops

Together, Gather is an awareness movement, aimed at encouraging early diagnosis and helping women understand that different treaments are necessary for different breast cancer subtypes. In conjunction with the upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, there will be four interactive online workshops for women this month, conducted by medical professionals ranging from breast surgeons to clinical oncologists.

  • 19th September: Breast Cancer 101 

From the latest diagnostic tests, how to examine your breasts, and the importance of personalising treatments to patients, oncologist Dr Mastura Md Yusof and breast surgeon Dr Teoh Mei Shi will offer valuable information in this workshop.

  •  21st September: Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Join breast surgeon Dato’ Dr Yip Cheng Har and oncologist Dr Nur Fadhlina as they speak about triple negative breast cancer, one of the more aggressive subtypes of breast cancer. Learn about how the treatment for triple negative breast cancer differs from other subtypes.

  •  26th September: Hormone Positive Breast Cancer 

How is hormone positive breast cancer also different from the other subtypes of breast cancer? Join oncologist Dr Kiley Loh and breast surgeon Dr Saladina Jaszle as they offer valuable insights, including the various treatment options available.

  •  28 th September: HER2 Breast Cancer 

Join breast surgeon Dr Ng Char Hong and oncologist Dr Doris Chow as they take you through what you need to know about HER2 breast cancer. Learn about how this type of cancer is treated, and gain insights into its management.  


7. Young Gamelan, klpac

Sign up your young ones for this rare opportunity to learn to play the gamelan. The Actors Studio Academy and the award-winning Gangsapura group will be holding workshops at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. Students will have the chance to learn from well-known performers and educators of the Malay gamelan. Register here.

8. Malaysia Children’s Picture Books 1930s to 2000s Exhibition

Brought to you by the Museum of Picture Book Art, the exhibition, which has been running since mid-August, showcases covers and pages of old Malayan and Malaysian children’s books. Come see a range of local children’s books from as early as the 1930s, all the way to 2020.
