Barbie Ultimate Staycation and Barbie Café, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has come up with the coolest idea for all Barbie lovers out there with their Barbie Ultimate Staycation. The team at the Grand Hyatt have worked tirelessly with Team Mattel in creating an entire floor of 14 themed rooms, comprising of either the Barbie Room or Barbie Suite. Each unit has been transformed into an empowering celebration of Barbie’s many careers, with every corner bathed in her iconic pink palette. Guests who choose to book these units are feted to creatively crafted and uniquely fashioned units which represent signature themes with stories to tell, namely Barbie You Can Be Anything, Barbie Fantasy and Barbie EXTRA.

Barbie fans, big and small, can also take advantage of the hotel’s exclusive Barbie Café, a glasshouse F&B venue designed to complement the overall magical pink experience. Book a breakfast date, afternoon tea or an evening cocktail session with the ladies (and gents – Ken, we’ve got your back!) either as part of the hotel stay, or as a standalone, Barbie-filled experience.

Kindly note that in adhering to strict SOPS, there is limited seating capacity. Strictly no walk-ins are allowed and pre-booking is required. Guests must also be identified with ‘Low Risk’ status on MySejahtera and have completed vaccination to be allowed entry.

Legoland Friendship Fest

In welcoming the new year, don’t forget to make a trip down south in celebration of the loved ones in your life with Legoland’s Friendship Fest. The themed “Largest Fun, Built on Friendship” event is here only until 9th January 2021. Enjoy live music performances, meet and greets and fun activities such as singing at Andrea’s Karaoke Booth, nurturing a love for animals at Mia’s Stables, and scoring goals at Stephanie’s Shoot & Score.

Chinese Paper Cutting Workshop

The art of paper cutting in China dates back to the 2nd century CE, when paper was invented by Cai Lun, a court official of the Eastern Han Dynasty, symbolising luck and happiness. This one’s perfect for crafty creators! Papa Mo’s wood workshops for kids aged 8 to 12 will immerse the littles in the world of woodworking, with excellent hands-on experience. Not only will your child walk out with their very own self-crafted wooden toys or robots, but they’ll also learn important values of perseverance and focus, and key STEM skills, such as math and engineering.

If you’ve enjoyed the pop-up markets organised by themessyclub throughout 2021, don’t forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming Blooming 2022: Messy at Tangsi bazaar, held on Saturday, 8th January 2022 and Sunday, 9th January 2022 at Rumah Tangsi. KL. The event, which will run from 11.00am to 8.00pm on both days, will be filled with local creatives, art exhibitions by four local artists, art workshops, yummy food and much more. Rantai Art Festival

The Rantai Art Festival which has been held since 2006 is a much anticipated platform for young vibrant new talents to showcase their work and talent. The festival, which has seen the performances of A Samad Said, Rahmat Haron, Sue Anna Joe, Kukubesi and Hujan, promises four weekends filled with youth empowerment, art and culture beginning Friday, 14th January 2022 to Sunday, 16th January 2022 (Week 1); Friday, 21st January 2022 to Sunday, 23rd January 2022 (Week 2); Friday, 28th January 2022 to Sunday, 30th January 2022 (Week 3) and Friday, 4th February to Sunday, 6th February 2022 (Week 4).

Don’t forget to pencil it into your schedule, and make sure you to head on over to MyTown Shopping Centre. (Psst: it’s free admission too!)

A Chinese New Year Story with thestorybooklives

Mark your calendars for Saturday, 22nd January 2022 and Sunday, 23rd January 2022 for two story telling sessions with thestorybooklives team. There are two different venues for you to pick from, the first being held at Phileo Damansara 1 from 5pm to 6pm on Saturday, 22nd January 2022.

Join thestorybooklives as they share the  tale of the legendary Nian, followed by Chinese New Year games and activities for the family. Please note that they will only be admitting a maximum of 7 families (totalling 30 pax), so don’t forget to book your spots at their website.

The second event lined up for Chinese New Year 2022 is the Storytelling of the Great Zodiac Race for Families. This fun-filled event is scheduled from 9.30am to 10.15am on Sunday, 23rd January 2022 at Farm in the City in Seri Kembangan. Stories will be shared about the great race of the 12 Zodiac animals – and kids and parents might even get the chance to meet some of these animals at Farm in the City!

A Tribute to Sondheim 

The Broadway Theatre Society of Malaysia (BTSM), in collaboration with Broadway Malaysia and PKKTuanku Bainun, are proud to present A Tribute Concert to musical legend Stephen Sondheim, happening on Saturday, 22nd January 2022 and Sunday, 23rd January 2022.
