A Day of Play at the Australian International School Malaysia with makchic!

The Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) and makchic are celebrating families yet again, with the return of our highly anticipated Play On! Children’s Festival!

Families can look forward to a day of exciting performances, fun carnival games, engaging workshops and activities, creative learning and exploration, storytelling by local authors, shopping and delicious food, especially curated for kids, 12 years old and under.

The event will be held at AISM’s beautiful campus in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. With over 20 years of academic excellence, AISM is the longest established international school in Malaysia that offers a full Australian curriculum and is the world’s first certified Visible Learning school, committed towards providing holistic education and developing lifelong learners.

With the success of last year’s event, this child-centric carnival is set to be held on Saturday, 14th October 2023, with extended hours, from 10am to 6pm.

Commitment to Children

With appropriate safety measures in place, and amenities such as baby-changing facilities, a nursing room and a calm room, parents need to look no further for a family-friendly festival that will not only allow the little ones to explore and enjoy the range of creative and sporting activities, but will also help school-going children from remote villages in Sabah. A portion of the proceeds will be going to The Matilda Project, an ongoing charity effort supported by AISM since 2010.

In the spirit of teaching children the joy of sharing and giving to others, there will also be a toy donation drive at the event, and we invite you to bring your preloved toys over to the Play Unlimited’s booth. These toys will go to new homes, and benefit Toy Libraries at Orang Asli villages in the Royal Belum Rainforest and PPR Lembah Subang 2.

Entrance is free! So, don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to enjoy a family-focused space that aims to foster creativity and nurture young minds, while bringing families together.

What You Can Expect

Stories and Art

Children will be able to explore the wonderful world of books and word fun, including beloved characters – Pinkfong, Baby Shark, Thomas & Friends, and animals from the Anak Rimba Books, at the Pelangi Kids’ Zone by Pelangi Kids (proudly presented by Pelangi Books Gallery). Expect special goody bags for young visitors who participate in the booth activities, and look out for the opportunity to purchase Pelangi Kids limited edition box sets that will only be available during the Festival!

Check out storytelling sessions by local authors, such as Afi Sulaiman, learn the art of storybook illustrations with Munsya Rahman, and create your own unique tie-dye designs with the teachers from the Australian International School Malaysia.

Learn through Play

From fun physical activities by The Little Gym Malaysia, delightful music sessions by Ann Perreau’s Music School, woodworking workshops for families by Aida Ihsani, messy and open-ended play by PlanToys Malaysia, Messy Play Don’t Care and Juggle Brain, to carnival games and giant bubble play, there will be plenty to see and do for everyone.

Kindly note the following:

Please fill in this form to register each child for the workshop & activity sessions. Only one (1) form per child may be submitted.
Each child can be registered for up to three (3) workshop & activity sessions.
Do note the age requirements for the sessions. The organisers have the right to release your spot if the child does not meet the age requirements.
For paid workshop/ activity sessions, please wait for an email from the activity partner to confirm your payment. Your slot is not confirmed until payment has been made and acknowledged by the activity partner.
Limited spaces are available for walk-ins on the day itself. Please arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the start time.

Treat your families to the extensive offerings from our dining options this year, from local favourites Wan Seven Cafe 96’s char kuey teow, Gringo’s Tex-Mex Cuisine (think tacos, quesadillas and nachos!), Alla Piccola Italia (API) Pizza’s freshly baked Neapolitan pizza, to Tachikawa’s rice bowls and udon.

The Festival will be held at the Australian International School Malaysia.

Free parking is available! However, as parking bays are limited, we encourage our visitors to consider carpooling, or taking public transport from the nearby The Mines, in the event that parking space is not available at the venue.

Do come prepared for the weather. We highly recommend bringing sunscreen, hats or caps and umbrellas.
