Heartburn and Indigestion: The What, Why and How (Infographic)

Pregnancy is a wonderful experience to go through, if not the most amazing one for women. However, tummy troubles are almost inescapable during pregnancy. As many as eight out of 10 women experience indigestion and/or heartburn at some point during their pregnancy.

Indigestion in pregnancy is partly caused by hormonal changes, and in later pregnancy by the growing womb pressing on your stomach. Heartburn, on the other hand, is caused by stomach acid passing from your stomach into your esophagus.  The symptoms can include feeling full, feeling sick or nauseous, burping, and burning pain in the chest.

So to help understand more about heartburn and indigestion in pregnancy, we asked Gaviscon to break it down. Read through the graphic, then tell us: How do you deal with these unpleasant conditions?
