Family Activities to Look Out for in Malaysia in June 2018

We hope you are all having a blessed and peaceful month of Ramadan. If you are looking for things to do with your families, we have our monthly list for you – get your calendar out for the month of June!

Ice Age Alive

Animatrix creatures from ice age, fossils and even a small skating rink will be stationed at Matic on Jalan Ampang until the end of the year. More info here.

Dates: Tuesday to Sunday and all public holidays 10 am – 7 pm, during Ramadan 1 pm – 10 pm.

Dinosaur Kingdom

A mobile dinosaur exhibition with lifelike dinos and more in Semenyih. More info here.

Panda cub at Zoo Negara

Born in January 2018, the second offspring of Xing Xing and Liang Liang is now receiving visitors at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre at Zoo Negara. The visiting hours are 11am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 3.30pm.


 

Smurfs live on stage

The Smurfs come to life on stage with life-sized mushroom-shaped forest houses, colourful backdrops and sing-along music in a 90-minute show at the Genting International Showroom.

Date: Until 25 June, daily 8.30 pm, on Sundays 4 pm.

Weekend activities at Baba & Nyonya Heritage House in Melaka

The museum offers a family self-guided tour called ‘Secrets of the House’ with ten activity cards, ideal for children aged 5-12. During the upcoming June 2018 school holidays, on each Saturday and Sunday, there will also be activity stations such as a batu-boh (rice grinder) and an activity room with traditional games.

Art-Jamming at Taman Botani


Cikgu Huda’s Arts Lesson
takes art to the park every Sunday. A friendly art-jamming session for beginners or experienced individuals to engage with an art activity, materials and techniques to express themselves.

Book Fest Malaysia

A book exhibition with the latest releases, talks by authors and activities for all ages. Event info here.

MPO Family Day: Maximus Musicus Visits the Orchestra

This month’s Family Day at MPO is the story of Maximus Musicus, who was only searching for a quiet place for the night, but ended up in a concert hall. During his adventure, Maxi gets to know the instruments of the orchestra, listens to the rehearsals and experiences a wonderful concert with pieces by Ravel and Beethoven.

Zero Waste Day

To celebrate World Environment Day (5th of June) and World Oceans Day (8th of June), the Zero Waste Day wishes to educate younger generation to think and act in green and sustainable ways. For kids aged 9-18. Event info here.

Hari Raya Inspired Art Science Workshop

A hands-on workshop for kids at the Ilham Gallery.

Rimba Ilmu KinderWalk


A family-friendly walk at the Rimba Ilmu Botanical Garden, University of Malaya. Explore the garden with kids and learn to recognize tropical rainforest plants and their use. Interactive activities for kids, suitable for ages 3-7. More info here.

Game & Anime Expo 2018

Ilham Gallery’s art discovery tour

The Art Discovery Tours for young visitors are a great way to introduce kids to art. More information on the tours can be found here.

After Earl: Before The Fall

Discover the Uniqueness of Orang Asli

A day trip to Muzium Orang Asli, Gombak to learn about indigenous people in Malaysia. The trip also includes a visit to a village, where students will get the chance to learn rattan weaving, try a blowpipe and join other fun and educational activities. Suitable for kids over 7. Event info here.
