Marrying fashion with eco-friendly sensibilities, founder Melati Ibrahim (right) started the Blackcrownproject back in November 2014 to sell her line of organic cotton leggings. Soon after that, Melati teamed up with now-business partner Yuyuy (left) to also offer organic cotton harem pants.
On why they chose to go with organic cotton, the answer was easy. Their vibrant-coloured prints are not only using eco-friendly, water-based inks on natural and synthetic fiber textiles, the US-imported organic cotton used are also Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified.
What makes these incredibly stylish, loud prints even more special is that all their eco-chic items – leggings, harem pants, skirts, headbands and swaddle – are suitable for sensitive skin that is vulnerable to eczema and allergies.
The Blackcrownprojek also supports local charities; they donate 5% of sales to good causes, with recent contributions made to Muslim Care Malaysia and flood victims through the Bantuan Kecemasan Mangsa Banjir Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang and Perak.
The Organic Cotton Leggings and Harem Pants are available at RM69 for sizes 0-3m, RM75 for 3-6m, 6-9m and 9-12m, and RM81 for 12-18m and 18-24m.
