Yum, not Yuck: Making Healthy Eating Fun for Kids

We admit it, mamas- if all we hear from the kids when we offer health(ier) meal options  is ‘yuck’,  it’s easy to respond with threats or bribery!

There’s an easier (and more constructive) way to get your kids to eat well. With the importance of nutrients for our growing kids through their vital years,  Nature’s Way (and their delicious, nutrient-filled Kids A+ VitaGummies®), bring to you some tips on how to make healthy eating fun- the positive way!

1. Make it Look Cute

Don’t worry – we’re not asking you to replicate pictures of those elaborately-styled kids’ bento meals! There are tons of other easy healthy food art options around (using basic ingredients you can easily find in the kitchen).

2. Involve The Kids

Give the kids a say in what sort of healthy meals they would like, then involve them in the grocery run and meal prep process. Kids love loud blenders, mushing food, and most of all- that all-important feeling of helping Mum and Dad out with their chores!

3. Gamify Meals

The words play and food don’t always go well together, but not all games end up with food all over the floor! Have a round of “Guess The Food with your Five Senses” or “The Loudest Crunch Wins” (cucumbers and other healthy veggie treats are super crunchy, by the way!) for some friendly mealtime competition.

4. Dessert Day Fun

Try serving dessert or sweet treats only on limited, allocated days, and avoid turning any type of food into ‘forbidden fruit’.  For example, you could designate certain days of the week that start with the letter “T” as Dessert Days (so the kids will know which days to look out for – whilst also practicing their letters too!).
