This moisturizing body lotion for babies is formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates and triclosan – plus it’s hypoallergenic. It claims to restore the hydrolipidic film – the skin’s natural protective barrier – and soften the skin with almond oil, jojoba oil and shea butter. Michelle Lim-Chua reports on how well this worked on her baby’s sensitive skin.

Yay
- With 88% of its ingredients from natural origins and Avocado Perseose (for added preservation of the skin’s cellular resource), this will be a hit with moms who focus more on “natural” on labels, and look less for just “organic.”
- Baby’s skin showed no adverse reaction or dryness to the lightweight lotion.
- The 300ml pump dispenser makes for practical one-hand use, and ensures you get the same amount out each time.
Nay
- The product was only “Dermatologically tested” by pediatricians on only 38 children for just three weeks, which may not satisfy moms with concerns about sensitive skin conditions like eczema.
- A little does NOT go a long way with this lotion and you’ll need at least 3 pumps to get your baby’s entire body covered properly.
- The lotions smells a lot like sunblock and can overpower a baby’s natural scent.
Bottom Line
The Hydra Bebe body lotion works great on babies, and is safe to use from the day they are born (which is hard to find). But it’s really important to test this if possible, because the scent may not be for everyone. But if you can get over how it smells, you’ve got yourself some high-quality baby lotion that is safe for use on sensitive skin.
