TrialRun

I’d spotted the Little Spa Kingdom at Publika a few months ago, but thought it was a little too “girly” for T.Rex. But then I saw that alongside girly things like pedicures and hair styling, there was a warm-water baby swim which I’d been wanting to try since reading about Li-Hsian’s visit to the Hippopo Baby Spa. I picked a public holiday for our visit, thinking it would be a quiet day at the spa, and instead found the place packed with at least four other babies (and their parents!)

Price Baby Swim RM59.90, Baby Yoga & Massage RM59.90, Baby Spa Package RM 99.90.

Yay

  • The environment is well-designed, bright and full of natural light; making the mood and tone of the place very friendly, cheerful and most importantly comfortable.
  • The staff are very attentive, especially Fadhilah, the therapist who attended to us. She took the time to get to know T.Rex a little, and made sure he was comfortable with her before trying to carry him. She was also dedicated to him the entire time, even though there were other babies around.
  • The spa is fully fitted with two large professional tubs for swimming (along with the single tubs for smaller babies), both very clean and new of course!
  • Parents can sit back, relax and take pictures – as everything from diaper changes and drying up is taken care of. You can of course, follow along and lend and hand, but it never felt like my husband and I were required to do more than just watch.

Nay

  • There were far too many bath toys in the tub for T.Rex to fully immerse himself in just playing in the water. Tubs are filled with colorful toys, some that move and others that are motorised; making the swim seem more about entertainment and less about relaxing and soaking in the experience of being weightless in the water.
  • Although the attentiveness of the staff was listed as a “Yay” I’d also have to say that it became a little too overbearing when T.Rex burst into tears shortly after being put into a floating ring and pushed to the center of the tub. Instantly, another therapist flocked to soothe him, using toys and sounds to calm him when all he needed was to left alone for a few minutes to adjust to his new environment. Of course, if you prefer your baby to soothe himself (as we do), just let the therapist attending to you that you’d prefer if she didn’t respond to him so quickly or persistently, and I’m sure she will be glad to comply.
  • The water was colder than room temperature during our swim, so be sure to let staff know if you want the water to be made warmer.

Bottom Line

The Little Spa Kingdom boasts a very niche clientele, and is picking up in popularity by the looks of it. It’s perfect location, personalised treatment and high level of service is sure to make it one of the hottest spots for pampered babies. They have a package priced at RM1099.90 for a year’s worth of unlimited swims, which I thought was a great deal! Our baby swim experience was certainly enjoyable and full of laughter (despite the crying!) and I would definitely recommend coming on weekend to squeeze a haircut in too – really wanted to try the “Romeo Slick” (RM19.90), so maybe on our next visit! Be sure to make an appointment if you want to try out the baby yoga and massage, or any of the other spa services.
