Wouldn’t it be nice if help is just a click away? Here are my favourite websites and apps for busy parents.
Budgeting
Managing a household starts with a budget. A fuss-free budget app to ensure you have sufficient funds to spend and save for your child’s college fund is a must. You Need a Budget (YNAB) is a budgeting App that you can share with your spouse or partner as it syncs online whenever there’s an internet connection using a Cloud Sync feature.
You can also enter your expenses right on the spot using its mobile app and it will be updated in real time to all your devices, such as your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phone or PC. It also acts as a personal financial assistant to help you plan how much you need to save monthly for upcoming expenses.
Shopping
There is an app that actually makes price comparison and highlights the best deal. SmartShopper Malaysia is able to track prices and promotions from more than 80% of the retailers in Malaysia such as AEON Big, Tesco, Giant, Cold Storage, Guardian Pharmacy, Caring Pharmacy, Watsons, Pacific, Segi and The Store.
To make it easier for users to search for items, the app lists various household categories and there’s a section on “Editor’s Pick”. You could also browse the mailers page directly to see on-going promotion for each retailer. And if you have specific brand of products that you use frequently, just save them under “Your List”.
Healthcare
A quick and free online consultation with a panel of paediatrics available on Doktorbudak.com would not only give parents a piece of mind, but it would also save them the money and time to consult a paediatric on a few questions such as a child’s weight gain, speech therapy, vaccination, etc.
You could find out about your question by first selecting the category to see if a similar questions was posted previously and has been answered. If there’s nothing similar to what you’re looking for, just do a search for your question. And if you can’t find an answer, you can then post your question and one of their panel of doctors will reply you.
It’s important to note that the website is not an online clinic with immediate response but an avenue to empower and educate parents with good information that will avoid delayed consultation and unnecessary anxiety.
Cleaners
If you’re a full-time working mum (FTWM) without the luxury of a helper, part-time cleaners would be a great help. Kaodim.com provides cleaning services at the best prices. Just submit your request for cleaning of house, office, moving or renovation, upholstery, carpet, high rise building and you will receive up to five quotes to compare prices and profile to find the best provider that suits your needs.
Personal Assistants
Can’t afford a Personal Assistant? Just hire a virtual one whenever the needs arises. Supahands not only help business but also anyone who just needs help getting things done. You could ask them to plan and book your next holiday, book flights, find professional services and even restaurant reservations. If you send them your first task, they will get it done within 24 hours for free. Now that’s a good deal.
Free Apps
If you would like to try some paid Apps but not willing to fork out in US dollars, App of The Day on iTunes Store offers a paid App to be downloaded for free for 24 hours.
