International Babywearing Week was celebrated last month and it marked the launch of Babywearing Mamas Central (BwMC), a group that’s passionate about keeping your baby close to you using one of a variety of types of slings, wraps, and carriers. If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because BwMC is a spin-off of the now-defunct Babywearing Mamas Malaysia.
“BwMC marks a new adventure that we are embarking on,” said Zuhaida Yusof, a BwMC committee member.
Focusing its advocacy work primarily in the Klang Valley, BwMC plans to:
- Educate and advocate babywearing via their baby carrier lending library
- Connect local and international babywearers on their Facebook page
- Host meetings or gatherings where newbies can learn about babywearing safety, different types of carriers, tips and tricks
“We believe that babywearing can transform the lives of children and those who care for them, enhancing the bond and relationship between them unlike anything else,” said Zuhaida.
