Merriam-Webster Adds “Baby Bump” to Dictionary

BabyBump

The dictionary is so in with the times.

Merriam-Webster announced recently that 150 new words and definitions have been added to the 2014 edition of their Collegiate Dictionary, including “baby bump”, “selfie” and more. In their press release Peter Sokolowski, the Editor-at-Large for Merriam-Webster, said that many of the new additions reflect the huge impact the internet has had on the world.

So from here on out, when someone asks you what a “baby bump” or “selfie” means, you can direct them to Merriam-Webster or just give them the following definitions:

Baby bump: the enlarged abdomen of a pregnant woman.

Hashtag: a word or phrase preceded by the symbol # that classifies or categorizes the accompanying text [such as a tweet].

What pregnancy- or baby-related words would you like added to the dictionary?
