We received an overwhelming response in our latest festive giveaway, and would like to thank each and every one of our mamas who shared about their Raya traditions! Reading about all your diverse and unique traditions was truly uplifting and heartwarming.
We are happy to announce our 3 winners below:

As I sit and wait, my mind starts to race,
Thinking of the tradition that brings joy to my face,
The smells and the flavors of my culture so dear,
The togetherness it brings, year after year.

Lemang, with its soft and chewy delight,
Cooked in bamboo, a fragrant sight,
Ketupat, sweet and tender, tightly woven,
Wrapped in coconut leaves, a treasure unopened.

And then there’s rendang, slow-cooked to perfection,
A rich and flavorful beef curry, a family connection,
But it’s not just the food that makes this tradition so great,
It’s the process, the teamwork, and the love that we create.

Together we chop, grind, and stir,
Working in harmony, a bond so pure,
When the food is ready, we gather around,
Our hearts full of love, our stories abound.

We share and we laugh, we reminisce about the past,
This tradition, so cherished, will forever last,
For it’s a part of my culture, my heritage so true,
A sense of belonging, a pride I imbue.

As I look forward to the upcoming Raya gathering,
I know that this tradition will keep us from scattering,
For in all our diversity, we come together as one,
A family united, a love that cannot be undone.

“KAD RAYA”
Kad Raya (Eid Greeting Card) was so so famous back then. I still remember, when Eid is getting closer, my sisters and I will receive lots of Kad Raya from our friends. The excitement when we received Kad Raya is surreal! And all the Kad Rayas will be used to decorate our house on Hari Raya. We will hang it on the wall and took family photos in front of it 😄 But as we are getting advance in technology, we just send text messages and whatsapp for raya greetings. It is so sad to not received kad raya like the old days.
Hey! But not for MY FAMILY 😂
Me and my two sisters still keep the tradition up till today. We will send kad raya every year because we were far from each other. We live in different states and sometimes we can’t go back to our hometown to celebrate raya. We were so excited to receive kad raya every year. We will also include family portrait in our kad raya. ❤️
I wish..this family raya tradition of mine will be continue as long as we live. Not only me..my daughters will be so excited and can’t wait to receive kad raya from their aunts. I hopes my children will also continue this tradition with their siblings because one fine day, all this kad raya will be the precious memory that we can keep close to our hearts ❤️

The family Raya tradition that I am most looking forward to is of course, to be busy ironing my family member’s baju raya ❤️ Why is this my “family” raya tradition? Because it’s my tradition to iron their baju raya and it’s also their tradition to ask me gosokkan baju raya diorang 😆 Well to be honest, I used to be so bitter bout this. When I was ironing my kurung, my brothers would come one by one, with big smile on their faces, asking, “tgh gosok baju ke tu? Yang adik sekali boleh? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ugh, I was so tak ikhlas because ironing is quite tiring and I would sweat a lot 😒 But, as I grow up, I learn to love this tradition more 🧡 Saya yang akan minta adik2 abg mak ayah punya baju utk saya gosokkan. Because I feel grateful. That Allah allows me to contribute something to them 💛I feel proud, that I can help them to look nice and presentable during Hari Raya 💚And most importantly, the number of clothes to be ironed is still the same. Which means everyone is here, sihat sejahtera. My family is complete. That’s more than enough 💙
