We are happy to announce that Makchic’s launch event, Makchic Day Out, held on the 6th of April at Publika was a great success. Thank you to all of our participants, vendors, speakers, volunteers and to everyone who stopped by to check us out. We are truly grateful.
We had prepared four areas for a variety of activities during Makchic Day Out: Shop, Play, Chill and Learn. Here’s a recap of what went down that day:
SHOP
The Charity Jumble Sale was our biggest success of the day, where we raised over RM1,000 for Parents Without Partners, an NGO aiding disadvantaged single parents.
We also had commercial brands like Forever + Ava, The Baby Loft, HappiKiddo, Be Green Bebe and WonderX. “The bazaar was really great for us, the location was perfect with a lot of traffic. The day and the time you chose was spot on, there were a lot of families and parents out with their children which is exactly the target audience for us,” said Fiona Oon, from Forever + Ava.
PLAY
The Play section was full of energy, with uncontrollable and energetic toddlers and little ‘uns taking part in the Arts & Crafts session carried out by Little Paper Crate. There was also an educational and exciting story telling session by MPH author Lee Poh Peng.
“After the sessions, they were very interested to get the books and caricatures and we were all sold out!”
Designers Jia Jia Hew and Ng Wan Ying also lent their talents at the face-painting corner.
Artisanal popsicle makers The Potong manned the Chill section with their tasty treats and chilled sodas. There were also free balloons given out, which finished by lunch time!
LEARN
Presentations of really informative topics ranging from breastfeeding advise for busy moms to how to make your kids eat their veggies were given by our guest speakers Norhayati Mohamed, Goo Chui Hoong, Jashpreet Kaur and Sarah Ong. Thank you for sharing!
All in all, Makchic Day Out was a great event, thanks to everyone who dropped by and all the children (and their parents!) who took part.
Hope to see all of you at our future events!
