A crash test experiment conducted by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research revealed that an adult passenger doesn’t have the required strength to prevent an infant or a child from being thrown forward during a collision at any speed. More frighteningly, an unsecured infant, weighing 7kg and is in a vehicle that’s traveling at 50km/h, will actually be thrown forward at a powerful force equivalent to the impact of an adult falling from a five-storey building.
With this in mind, Kinderdijk Sdn Bhd organised a week-long Child Safety Roadshow Campaign at Mid Valley Megamall recently to remind parents and guardians to take necessary precautions to ensure their children’s safety. Gwei Tze-Co, Managing Director of Kinderdijk Sdn Bhd called on parents to understand that children are the most precious cargo on-board, so safety shouldn’t be undervalued, nor taken for granted. Echoing his thoughts was Jenny Kwan, Newell Rubbermaid Asia Pacific’s Senior Sales Manager for Hong Kong and ASEAN, who added, “safety is crucial to child development and it is imperative to cultivate the prudent habit from young.”
The campaign also showcased a line of Aprica and Graco car seats, strollers, baby carriers and travel systems, all of which are designed with child safety in mind.
