Breastfeeding is best for your baby and it’s good for your health. Yet it’s not always easy. Some mothers strive to breastfeed exclusively longer than the recommended 6 months of age and are blessed that they are able to do so.
Though some women take to breastfeeding easily, there are mums who go through many challenges when they breastfeed. This includes latching problems, workplace stress, fatigue and the lack of support from the people around them.
In light of this, several professional bodies have banded together to launch #LetsSupportBreastfeeding, a contest to promote increased support among Malaysians for breastfeeding mums.
Running from 18 August to 19 September, interested participants can visit this site to watch a video which highlights how a breastfeeding mum’s efforts are improved by the support she receives from her family and workplace. They can then nominate someone who’s breastfeeding or has breastfed and share how they’ve supported this person’s efforts. More details of the contest can be found here.
#LetsSupportBreastfeeding is an initiative by MyNutriBaby, a community education programme spearheaded by the Nutrition Society of Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian Paediatric Association, Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia and the National Population and Family Development Board. The initiative is supported by Philips AVENT Malaysia.
