Family Activities to Look Out for in Malaysia in December 2018

It’s December! The year-end is filled with plenty of activities for family and children, so mark your calendars now.  Have a great last month of 2018!

Frozen Sing-along

This event sounds like fun for Frozen addicts. Little ones can enjoy a movie session and dress up to enter the best-dressed competition. Full details here.

Pantomime: Aladdin

The KL Players’ popular pantomime production tells the story of a young, carefree boy, Aladdin, who dreams of riches and marrying the beautiful Princess of China. Aladdin soon finds himself on an epic adventure with genies, zombies and Old Auntie Nor. Event details here.

Publika Street Circus

14 entertaining and thrilling street circus performers take over the Square at Publika; acrobatics, jugglers, tall unicycle, clowns, giant bubbles, contortionists, hula-hoops, magicians and comedy. Full schedule here.

Pavilion’s Dream Christmas

Marvel at the Magical Mickey tree adorned with 1,000 specially-designed Mickey figurines at

The Curve’s Christmas show

The Sweetest Christmas ever is a musical show that runs twice a day at the Curve.

Barbie Dreamtopia 2018

Christmas activities at the Paradigm Mall include Barbie meet & greets, tea parties, live shows and more. More details here.

Dora the Explorer LIVE! Search for the City of Lost Toys

Dora has lost her teddy bear Osito up at Genting and needs your help to find him! Dora goes on a musical adventure with her trusty friends Map, Backpack, Boots and Diego and their courageous friends. Full details here.

Dates and times: Daily until 1 January, 4.30PM and 7PM. No show on 3, 17 and 24 December.

Our Sanrio Times

Hello Kitty and her friends are at Quill City Mall. The exhibition features 13 Sanrio-themed zones where visitors can take photos of 100 adorable Sanrio characters in a variety of colourful settings. More information here.

Dr. Little at Gleaneagles Hospital

During this day, the kids get to understand what doctors do while learning how to take care of their bones, teeth, eyes and nutrition. For ages 5-10. Limited seats, registration required. Details here.

Cinema: Mary Poppins Returns

Take a walk down the memory lane with Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins. The magical nanny visits now-grown Jane and Michael Banks. An all-out musical, the film promises some animates scenes, too.

Fall asleep with the sharks at the Aquaria KLCC

Not a regular night camp, but one where the children will get to feed the sharks, learn about marine life and fall asleep next to these magnificent creatures. For kids aged 6-13, limited to 40 children. Details here.

Tales of Winter at MPO

MPO welcomes the holiday season with programme that includes gingerbread, sleigh bells and a love letter from a doting composer to his wife on Christmas. Details here.

Fun play farming at Mari House

A fun way for young kids to learn about farming, with an added bonus of outdoor play. They also get to prepare their “farm-to-table” dessert for the picnic later -prepared and set up by the Mari House team. More info here.

Concert: Ticket to Ride

Travel-themed concert with KLPAC’s Symphonic Band. Light and fun pieces such as “Weather Report”, “Ticket to Ride”, “Take Off” and “Windows of the World” make it a suitable musical outing for children and adults alike. More info here.

Young Botanist 2.0

Experience what a botanist does with NEC in FRIM, surrounded by tropical rainforest. Nature walk, leaf identification and a scavenger hunt and leaf bingo. For kids aged 10 and above. Full details here.

MUD the Musical: The Story of Kuala Lumpur

The award-winning musical returns for the holiday season, performed by a young cast from Enfiniti Juniors. The interactive show has elements of culture and history, and is performed in English, Bahasa, smatterings of Mandarin and Tamil.

A Christmas Carol

Introduce kids to the Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. For families with kids aged 2 and above. Storytelling, carolling, song performance by Gloria Music school, gift exchange and a Christmas party. More info here.

Cinema: Bumblebee

This Transformers spinoff will take us back to 1987. Battered Bumblebee has taken refuge in a junkyard and is nursed back to health by a young girl.

Cinema: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

We finally get to see what all the Spider-fuss has been about! Superhero fans will enjoy this animation with goofball action.

Traditional dance: Lili of Chini

Tunas Tari’s year end production will tell a tale of Princess Lili and Princess Lala, two sisters who couldn’t be more different from each other. More info here.

Glowtopia

Themed “The Last Kingdom on Earth”, Glowtopia brings a Blacklight Slide, the largest glow-in-the-dark inflatable slide in the world to KL. They will also have food trucks and other vendors. This is a strictly “White T-shirt” event and the sliders must be 7 years old or above 110cm tall.
