If you’re bored with plain, single-coloured pastel baby swaddles, Ciinolin is the answer to your prayers. Ciinolin (pronounced “See – no – leen”) was started by Lim Yin Ching, a new mother who wanted the best for her newborn son. Like most swaddles in the market, they were made of muslin. But she never found “the” perfect set. Some were soft but not durable and others were durable but weren’t soft. So she decided to take things into her own hands by producing a special weave of muslin cloths.
Ciinolin’s swaddles are made up of a combination of 70% rayon from natural bamboo fibres and 30% cotton – which makes them soft and durable. And like your favourite blanket, they get softer with every wash! Their special blend is not the only unique thing about their swaddles. Their designs are fun, colourful and whimsical. They didn’t have to look far for design inspirations as the swaddles are inspired by batik motifs, songket, Indian textiles and embroidery. These traditional influences are topped off with cute animal characters to give the swaddles a whimsical design with a Southeast Asian twist.
The brand uses this aesthetic in their Whimsically Southeast Asian swaddle series. The series contains the Cirebon Adventures set which gives an exploration and adventure vibe with their cloud motif inspired by traditional Cirebon batik design. The series also holds the Madura Merrytime set which is a celebration of the rustic bold colored batik from the Javanese island of Madura. Each set contains three swaddles measuring at 47″ x 47″ and is approximately RM144.88.
Baby’s first books get a 21st century revamp with their Ciinolin’s Baby Steps cards which documents special baby milestones with 32 different cards which also includes adorable whimsical animal characters. All of Ciinolin’s products are also gender neutral. No more of the pink is for girls and blue is for boys debacle!
The people behind Ciinolin also believe in giving back. They’ve partnered with B1G1, a Not-for-Profit society registered and regulated in Singapore which aims to improve the lives of less fortunate children all around the world. For every product Ciinolin sold, a portion goes to B1G1 to help underprivileged children around the world.
