Sparked by the delight of kids playing dress-up in their parents’ clothes, alongside the desire of injecting an audacious attitude amongst the next generation, design duo Angela Chong and Perry Lam has debuted a CAVALIER kids collection. “To live free and fearlessly, to be comfortable in your own skin, to brazenly express your personal style” embodies the key philosophies of the newly released collection, which is to produce conceptual and visually stimulating designs that are distinct and ever evolving.
CAVALIER aims to act as a platform for children who love and appreciate unique aesthetics, offering functional yet versatile wear for little ones to attend a formal fête or simply to conquer the playground in. The collection consists of garments for newborns and kids children aged 2-10 years old, with each and every article being statement piece by itself, whether through its quirky designs, fine details, or drawing its inspiration from childhood memories.
Encouraging the concept of ‘giving’ at an early age, the collection features a charity capsule designed for three kids of the designers’ good friends; the precocious Luke, Jamie and Sarah. The three respective articles of clothing not only capture their individual personalities but also their personal likes, for example Luke’s shirt is a show & tell of how to wear your heart on your sleeve and Jamie’s bermudas feature a pocket flap disguised as a hanging book, symbolising his love for reading. Luke, Jamie and Sarah will each be selecting their own charity to donate SGD37 (approximately RM95) from the proceeds of every piece sold.
