In conjunction with the upcoming World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, we are excited to share Sunway Putra Mall’s social initiative: Autism Through My Eyes, happening from 28th March to 30th April 2022. Â
With Autism Malaysia estimating that 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and many #makchicmumtribe members who are parents to neurodivergent children themselves), there is much we can learn about celebrating and supporting those within the community!
Autism is Awesome- Sunway Putra Mall’s Autsome family
Sunway Putra Mall is an autism friendly mall, offering amazing facilities and features such as calm rooms and a designated Autism Friendly Shopping Day (think dimmed lights and reduced noise levels!). The mall is setting the standards high on inclusivity as they continue to educate and generate awareness on all things autism related. Luqman Hakim is one of the many artists on the spectrum taking part in Sunway Putra Mall’s yearly charity bazaar, who are boldly challenging the narrative and redefining expectations. Part of the sale proceeds of this bazaar will be channeled towards the National Autism Society Of Malaysia (NASOM). As you purchase from autistic vendors such as Luqman and NakSeni, to name a few, you will be supporting the development of the talents of differently abled individuals and contributing towards equal opportunities for all.Â
Spend for a cause, and bring home creative pieces of artwork, handmade accessories, mouthwatering snacks, or even some educational toys for the kids!
Fashion Show by JK FashionÂ

Keep a look out for a special fashion show brought to you by humanitarian fashion label, JK Fashion. Founder, Jay Kumar shares that they have been creating new talents and that every year, they work with new kids who would like to embark in the art or fashion industry.Â
As a brand that cares, JK Fashion carries a range of ethnic designs, infusing and featuring the artwork of kids with autism into their fashion wear. Together with autism NGO, PERSAMA, they work with autistic children, giving them a guided programme to earn a sustainable income. Â
Autsome TalksÂ
The ripple effect of an autism diagnosis often throws family members and caregivers in the unknown. Hear from the hearts of a parent and the sibling of a loved one with autism, and be inspired by their encouraging, honest stories. Whether you’re a family member of a child on the spectrum, or just an individual who cares- you’d be sure to benefit in some way from attending these enlightening talks. Autism Screening by Special Education Needs Institute (SENI)

Located inside the mall itself, SENI aims to help individuals with special needs integrate into society as contributing members of the workforce, through their holistic programs for individuals of all ages. Free autism screenings will be available for visitors over the first weekend of April.
