ADRIANA
After we attended Adriana Thani’s book launch a couple months back, we knew we had to get in on this glam mama’s baby must haves! An author, a babywearing advocate and a natural parenting specialist, here’s a list of what this mother of two couldn’t live without.

Most Used:

  1. Fisher-Price Foldable Travel High Chair: I loved this because I travel a lot with my kids, and this allowed me to have a convenient way to include them in meals. The detachable tray was great because I could easily wash it off between meals.
  2. Fisher-Price Bouncer: We’ve had our bouncer in the family for seven years now, and it has been passed down from my eldest, to my second, to my nephew. Such a useful item for when a non-mobile baby needed to be kept occupied and carrying them just wasn’t an option (read: taking a shower or going to the toilet).
  3. Storchenwiege Ulli Woven Baby Wrap: I have a babywearing stash with many different carriers and brands, but my favorite would be woven baby wraps. The Storchenwiege Ulli was my first ever woven wrap, and it’s remained a firm favorite!
  4. Graco SnugRide Carseat: My eldest was born in the US, so when I left the hospital I was required to watch a video about carseat safety and the nurses also checked to make sure my carseat was installed safely, as per the laws there. While Malaysia doesn’t have the same laws, I still believe in carseats. In fact, my 5-year-old is still in a booster seat. Safety first!
  5. Bumgenius Pocket Cloth Diapers: I loved using cloth diapers with my boys not only for the sake of the environment, but also my own wallet. Pocket cloth diapers are my favorite type because I can adjust absorbency based on my needs (more absorbent inserts at night, or naptimes). Also, being able to take out the inserts means that everything dries pretty fast. The fact that it’s one-size meant that I could adjust the settings to fit both my newborn and toddler, so my diapers could be used on both my children.
  6. BabyLegs Baby Legwarmers: I loved pairing these with cloth diapers at home – such a comfy combo! It also made it easier to change diapers because I didn’t have to peel off their pants first. And when we travel to somewhere cold, I used the leggings under the kids’ pants to keep them warm. I have quite a collection, and the kids now use them as arm-warmers!
  7. Bonus Must! Babywearing Made Simple: I didn’t have this when my boys were babies, but I sure wish I did! Get your copy of my book, Babywearing Made Simple, at a bookstore near you or online via MPHOnline!

Didn’t Use Enough:

  1. Crib: I bought a very expensive 3-in-1 crib that could be used as a crib, toddler bed, and twin-size bed, and am only using now as a twin-size bed for my eldest… seven years after I bought it. When they were babies, I just co-slept!
  2. Changing table: It’s so exhausting to carry baby back and forth to a table, so what I do is just change baby wherever they are.
  3. Graco SnugGlider Infant Swing Frame: I bought a swing frame that could be used with my carseat, and only used it once. It just doesn’t make sense to take my carseat in and out of the car to put into the swing
  4. Pacifier: I secretly wanted my kids to use it, but they always preferred my boobs, and now I know that’s why I could breastfeed them for so long!
