18 Activities for Kids this Labour Day & Wesak Long Weekend

 

With the long weekend fast approaching, parents will be confronted with a myriad of questions: What are we going to do? Where will we go? Which are the best activities?

If you haven’t made plans, don’t sweat it. Here’s a list of family-friendly activities that will keep you and your little ones outdoors, away from the TV:

1. Royal Selangor Visitor Centre’s School of Hard Knocks

Kids as young as 5 years old can participate in this 30-minute session where you will work with a hammer and wooden mould to make you own pewter dish to take home.

2. The Studio at KL

Nothing unleashes a child’s creativity quite like art. The Studio at KL is inviting parents with kids aged 6 to 14 to claim a free trial class where they will be able to paint on a canvas and create their own masterpieces.

3. Cooking Classes at The Westin KL

The Westin KL is offering cooking classes for your little ones. 4. Crayons on Strike

Calling all parents and kids! Crayons on Strike! is a colourful and fun puppet show by The Bubblegum Project that’s being staged at Black Box Publika till Friday, May 1.

5. Music, Noise and Silence

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra presents Music, Noise and Silence – a concert where silence and noise attempts to overpower and control the orchestra. Bring your little ones and enjoy the magical and innovative mimery on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3.

6. The Seed Music Centre Grand Opening

Drop by The Seed Music Centre‘s grand opening for free music demos classes available for both, children and adults, enjoy the classical music performances and sign your little one up for class packages and get a RM100 waiver and additional vouchers upon registration on Monday, May 4.

Dinoscovery

7. Dinoscovery by Dinosaurs Live

Avenue K welcomes the new year educating children on the prehistoric creatures, atmosphere, climates and habitats. There are activities and races through the Dinoscovery for children to partake in – including fossil hunts, footprints and much more.

8. Station Aquarius at Aquaria KLCC

Early this year, Aquaria KLCC has opened up a new marine discovery zone called ‘Station Aquarius’ that consists of a moon lab, jellyfish lab, seahorse lab and much more. So, gather your mini marine enthusiasts and pay visit the Aquaria KLCC.

9. The School ‘Sun Day Out’

All kids are welcome to join in the fun at The School Jaya One‘s ‘Sun Day Out’. Activities include Magical Moment with Frankie The Clown, a workshop conducted by Designed with Passion to teach children how to create their favourite cartoon characters using beads and an arts & crafts session of Decoupage.

10. Publika’s Free Movie Screenings

Bring your kids to Publika on Monday evening for a movie screening without spending a penny (except for parking and petrol, of course). Its open-air venue makes it a great place for kids who tend to get restless and those that want a change from freezing theaters.

16. Wheelie Sundays

Every Sunday morning, Publika closes its internal roads for families to ride their bikes safely. You can also rent a bike for free on the premises.
