Thank you to everyone who participated in our #MakchicAndMe 2024 Mother’s Day Contest! Our hearts were full reading all your entries, and we loved hearing your point of view about what a ‘makchic mum‘ means to you.
We are pleased to announce the three winning entries as follows:
“A makchic mum is one who is creative when asked odd/strange questions by their littles. She only wants to poop in peace, at least once a week. She loses her mind all the time, but keeps everything in order despite it. She’s human, but embodies a safe space for her children, a warm hug when they feel down, with a heart full of tenderness, and enthusiasm, and joy sharing their love with their littles.“
“A makchic mum is… your everyday Mum- the working Mum, the-stay-at-home Mum, the C-sec Mum, the natural birth Mum, the VBAC Mum, the new Mum, the NICU Mum, the preemie Mum, the formula feeding Mum, the breastfeeding Mum, the toddler Mum, the neurotypical child Mum, the neurodivergent child Mum, the ‘tidak apa‘ Mum, the ‘kiasu‘ Mum, the health- focused Mum, the ‘McD for dinner’ Mum, the single Mum, the struggling Mum, the ‘have it altogether’ Mum, the grieving Mum, the guilty Mum, the lost Mum and basically every mum who was never a Mum to begin with, but has Grown and is continuing to Grow into the Mum they wish to be because there is a place and space for Growth for every and any mum in the Makchic community. We started of as girls and have grown as mums in the Makchic community where there is an invisible bearing of one another’s joy, fears, failures and burdens through words. I choose my best friend, @michelletingjy because GROWTH is truly the essence of being a Makchic mum, and we both have truly grown together from being just girls to mums.”
“I’m a ‘makchic mum’, I embrace the magic in everyday chaos. I’m the mum who believes in rainbows on rainy days, finds joy in the silliest moments, and can whip up spontaneous adventures with a sprinkle of imagination. I’m not just a mum – I’m a chief joy officer, spreading laughter like confetti… and lifting spirits with a warm hug and a sparkle in my eye. Together with another super makchic mum, @csazarcon, we share the same makchic spirit! We turn parenthood into a joyful adventure, adding extra sparkle to our little tots’ lives and the kids around us.”
