1. KidZania Kuala Lumpur ‘Science & Space’ Programme

 2. Grand Bazaar Ramadhan Raya 2019

The Grand Bazaar will be held in 2 different locations from 4th May until 4th June. With 134 booths in Shah Alam and 436 booths in Bukit Jalil, the organisers aim to enter the Malaysian Book of Records as the largest festival bazaar.  Enjoy exploring the booths for delicious treats and cool trinkets. And do not miss the chance to catch some fun activities already planned throughout the month, such as the ‘Acara Lemang Terpanjang’! You could get more details on the programs on offer here.

 3. Batman 80 Years

The world’s most popular Caped Crusader, Batman is turning 80, and the celebration will be happening at Resorts World Genting. From its inception in 1939, the Dark Knight has been a fan favourite by many. Relive his crime-fighting adventures through movies, live shows, exclusive exhibitions, and Meet and Greet sessions. Get involved, and dress up in your favourite characters at the Cosplayers Gathering. Psst, word has it that the Bat-Signal will be lit with over 1,001 dynamic winch balls; so see you at SkyAvenue, parents and kids!

 4. Craft Affair: Mother’s Day Edition 2019

Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend by checking out an arts and crafts market and take part in workshops at the event. Specially curated by the hardworking people at Craft Affair, this market is one to look forward to for some shopping and great joy.  5. KLM Charity Tulip Sale 

In conjunction with Mother’s Day 2019, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will be flying in over 3,500 fresh stalks of tulips from the Netherlands for a special Charity Tulip Sale. Each stalk will be sold at RM6 and all proceeds will be donated to Hospis Malaysia. Head on over to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to purchase these special flowers. Not only would you be buying special treats for the wonderful women in your life, you will be contributing to a great cause too!

6. Small Heroes, Big Hearts Kids Workshop

Cultivate the appreciation and love for the environment in your little ones through these weekly themed workshops, organised by The Happiness Project, at Robson 7.  Choose between the morning or afternoon slots, and complete 5 different educational activities in 2 hours, to earn a Hero Medal! Activities are suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.  7. Klang Heritage and Cultural Walk

Hosted by Jalan-Jalan Klang, this is a family-friendly activity. Pack enough drinking water and wear comfy shoes. You will walk and discover some of Klang’s oldest historical buildings, such as the 100-year-old fire station, and experience authentic local flavours, like the original Bak Kut Teh.

 8. YMCA KL SuperfunKids: Sunday Arts + Crafts

Catered for young families, the YMCA KL provides a safe space environment for young children to mingle and play. Fun and creative hands-on activities are presented at the fortnightly workshops to spark curiosity and wonder. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate, and activities are suitable for children aged 4 to 12 years.

Dates: 12 May (Sunday) & 26 May (Sunday)

9. Activities at ILHAM Gallery in May

If you would like to nurture an appreciation of the Arts among your children, joining any of these well-curated programs at ILHAM Gallery will do the trick.

Special Family Workshop: Secrets of the Reunion Table

Hosted by members of the Baba Nyonya Museum in Malacca, participants will experience what it feels like to be part of a reunion table spread belonging to a traditional Peranakan family. Enjoy a unique paper cutting activity as participants discuss about tradition, and share their own respective cultures.

Fun with Printing Plates Workshop

A collaboration with Atom and The Dot, children could learn the evolution of printing and create their own artwork-inspired prints in this workshop. This activity is suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years, but children below 9 years must be accompanied by a parent.

Fun with Printing Plates Special Hari Raya Workshop

Another Atom and The Dot collaboration, children will learn to recognise Hari Raya symbols, the evolution of printing, and create their own Hari Raya inspired print in this workshop. This activity is suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years. However, as mentioned above, children below 9 years, must be accompanied by an adult.

Art-Inspired Coding Project

This is a collaboration between ILHAM Gallery and CodeJuniors. The coding workshop is suitable for children aged 8 to 11 years, and the project will be based on and inspired by the Art of Chia Yu Chian: People and Places in Kuala Lumpur.

Date: 26 May (Sunday)

Time: 11.30 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. & 2.00 p.m. – 3.30 p.m.

Venue: ILHAM Gallery, ILHAM Tower, Jalan Binjai, Kuala Lumpur

10. Imaginatricks

Bring your family to an Imaginatricks show and be enchanted by the performances from talented stuntmen and dancers, and world-champion ice skaters. Enjoy an-hour long spectacle which combines amazing acrobatics, cabaret dances, and comedy. It is a show not to be missed!

11. Kids Programmes by Leaderonomics

Kids Leadership Programme

If you are looking for a program that could help develop leadership qualities in your children, look no further than this program organised by Leaderonomics. It is a storyline-based program that will also help improve communication and public speaking skills of the participants. This activity is suitable for children aged 8 to 10 years. Youth Start-Up Apprentice Workshop

This is a 6-day workshop suitable for participants aged 11 to 15 years. The workshop aims to help participants develop greater understanding of important skills they must have, if they want to be an entrepreneur. They will then apply what they have learned at a real-life bazaar, where they will learn first-hand what it takes to sell their products. Storytelling & Story Acting Workshop

The Story Book is a place where stories come to life through drama, songs and storytelling activities.  Learn the basics of storytelling from The Story Book’s own Story Ninjas.  In this workshop, children will learn how to role play, narrate, and act. 13. Upcycling Workshop

This activity introduces its participants to the importance of upcycling. It will mainly focus on how one can reduce and reuse the materials in their daily life. On top of that, participants will also learn the proper ways to segregate plastic waste. This activity is suitable for children aged 5 years and up, but accompanied by a parent. More info here.

14. Junior Robotic Kids Open Day

Robotics is a great option for parents who would like to encourage independent, critical thinking and problem solving skills in their children. Check out some robot challenges and win some prizes at this Junior Robotic Kids Open Day. Parents with children above 6 years old are welcome and there will be a sign up bonus if you register on that day!

14. Mid-Term School Holiday Art Camp 2019

Organised by Art Genius, this 3-day holiday art camp is lined up with lots of craft activities that will keep your child busy. All materials for the sessions are included and breakfast, lunch, and tea time meals are provided daily. This camp is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years. More details here.

15. The Art of Creative Writing Workshop

Organised by the Leeds Learning Academy, this 3-day workshop will introduce creative writing in really fun ways. Filled with hands-on activities and games, children will be taught about writing plots and characters, and creating settings that would allow their stories to come to life. The participants will have the opportunity to share their stories on the final day and answer questions from their readers in a ‘Meet-the-Author’-like session.

Date: 28 May (Tuesday) until 30 May (Thursday)

16. Me Books Townhall Community Events

Me Books Asia conducts workshops regularly at their Nooks in Bangsar, and in Johor. If you are looking at equipping yourself with proper and basic CPR techniques, this is the workshop for you. In this 3-hour CPR workshop, you would understand how a child’s body works differently than adults, identify and understand symptoms of choking, seizures and respiratory issues, such as asthma, and respond appropriately to these potentially life-threatening situations.
