1. Bookfest Malaysia 2019

Grab your kids and shop for great titles at a bargain! Author meet-ups and writing workshops will also be happening so don’t give this event a miss. More details here.

Family-Activities-in-Klang-Valley-this-June-2019-52. Kids Cooking Workshop(s) at Vease

Roll up your sleeves this month and join a cooking workshop (or two!) at Vease. Kids will learn basic cooking skills as well as the importance of cooking healthily, whereas parents will be able to bond closer with their little ones through the workshop(s). The workshops are suitable for kids aged 3 and above. Some of the meals participants will be making are pumpkin roti jala, cheese biscuits, red bean zongzi (dumplings), and granola cups.

3. Me Books Asia Townhall Events

Me Books Asia continue to bring fun and educational workshops to their Nooks in Czip Lee, Bangsar.  Join these amazing workshops this June.

Let’s Tryout!: A Science Workshop with Storytelling Session @ Bangsar

This workshop is a collaboration between Me Book Asia and Atom & the Dot, and will introduce scientific exploration through interactive storytelling time.  Look forward to a great session of magical adventures with fun characters, creative project-making, and best of all, bring your creation home! Let’s Try Something New: A Storytelling with Arts & Crafts Workshop

This is a thematic arts and craft workshop conducted by the talented Abyan Junus for ‘Let’s Try Something New’, a book written with Farah Landemaine. Participants will go home with a complimentary 6 months subscription access to the Me Books Plus app, an award-winning interactive storytelling app. Apart from that, participants will also receive book vouchers valued at RM25. This activity is suitable for children aged 5 to 9 years and interested in DIY crafts.

Head over to Pavilion KL to experience Turtle Power like never before! Spend the day with your family and you might even catch a glimpse of the Turtles during their designated meet and greet times. You may also get your hands on the newest Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys at the pop-up shop(s). Don’t forget to bring your camera!

5. Parents’ Day Carnival: Love In Caring Hands

This event is hosted by Grusonn Wellness for parents and their children; an ode to close and solid relationships. Science-based activities will be carried out throughout the day. There will also be free parenting talks, health talks, robotic demo, and much more! Click here to know more.

Storytelling and Father’s Day Celebration: The Lion King

The Story Book is a place where stories come to life through drama, songs, and storytelling activities. This year, for Father’s Day, a special session will be organised to celebrate the amazing papas out there. Who can forget the amazing parent and child bond represented by Mufasa and Simba? 8. Daddy & Me Camp @ Camp MAE

Celebrate a strong bond between father and child at this stayover camp. Participate in outdoor activities and make new memories together. Camping with your parent has never been this fun! One of the world’s most famous musicals, Phantom of the Opera will be taking centre stage at Istana Budaya this month. Get ready for an exciting and world-class level show as the members from the World Tour will be joining the cast with a full 12-piece live orchestra. Tickets start from RM200.

10. Children’s Business Fair 2019

A business fair for children! Hosted by Acton Academy Kuala Lumpur, the third instalment of this fair will see children learning about startups. They will learn how to build a brand, create a product or service, understand marketing strategies, and explore new ideas in the marketplace. A great event to instil the love for entrepreneurship amongst the young ones.

11. M’Kis: Early Years, Sports, and Summer Activities Program

Keep your children happy, active and occupied at the Mont’Kiara International School Summer Activities Program for the Early Years or Sports-inclined. Session 1 kicks off this month followed by the next session in July. 12. Public Talk: Parent-Teen Conflicts Management

Finding it hard to communicate with your children? Do you feel tired trying to make a point or deliver a fact to them, only to end up in an argument? Parents, this is the talk for you.

Learn how to identify the different types of parent-child conflicts and the ways of dealing with them. Recent research of relationships between parents and children will be shared, as well as guidance on the management and prevention of conflict. 13. TLM Baby Expo 2019

If you don’t already know – TAGCC stands for ‘Toys/Anime/Games/Comic Con’. Hobby collectors and fans of these items will be in for a treat as the event aims to bring in notable international brands and feature cool toy collections. There will also be cosplayers for a meet and greet.

The most popular and only nationwide bird survey in Malaysia is here! Entering their 10th year of counting garden birds and collecting vital data, MY Garden Birdwatch is holding yet another survey this June. The collection of data will assist in analysing the species’ population trends and understand the health of our environment. You can do the 30-minute survey and birdwatch from the comfort of your home or pick a spot outdoors. The headliners who brought the house down back in 2017 are back! Reunited for the Let’s Rock 2 show, the trio consisting of Fuad from Kyoto Protocol, songbird Bihzhu, and singer-songwriter Nick Davis will be performing with the klpac Symphonic Band, the YCA Chorus, and a 4-piece band. Look forward to a myriad of favourite tunes performed live, including songs by U2, Coldplay, Smashing Pumpkins, The Carpenters, and Cyndi Lauper. Do take note that shows on the 20 and 22 of June are private nights.

Written by Mark Beau de Silva, Stories for Amah was first staged in 2002. To date, it has garnered 5 nominations at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. The play is centred on the life of Ruth de Souza, a young Serani woman who finds herself in a dilemma. She struggles through the Chinese upbringing on her mother’s side and Eurasian identity imposed by her father. Visit www.klpac.org for ticket pricing details and more information.

19. Tukar Tangan (Reloved, Recycled & Renew Market)

Get your hands on bargains and good deals at the Tukar Tangan (Reloved, Recycled & Renew Market) hosted by Makers & Co. Don’t forget to bring your own shopping bag and be there for their hourly lelong bargain, when items will be sold at slashed prices. Cash exchange is encouraged as items will be sold at RM50 and below.

20. Monthly Events at Taman Tugu Project 

Taman Tugu Project runs weekly programs, in collaboration with several partners, including Free Tree Society and EcoKnights. Often, many are free.  It is an increasingly popular weekend destination for families and residents in the city.
