What better way to celebrate World Children’s Day, but to bring the kiddos out for a day filled with exciting activities, special performances, and yummylicious food?
All are invited to makchic’s first ever Play On! Children’s Festival, held in collaboration with Australian International School Malaysia (AISM). With a delightful mix of activities by external vendors and the experts at AISM, your whole family will be able to experience lots of festival fun and see what the school has to offer, as AISM transforms itself into a carnival playground.
It’s all happening on 27th November 2022, from 10:00am to 4:00pm– so do mark your calendars to enjoy the mix of free and paid fun-filled activities happening throughout the course of the day. Part of the proceeds will go to the Matilda Project charity run by AISM, which sponsors the primary education of 30 children from remote villages in Sabah. It’s the perfect end to the last weekend of November!
Here are some of the exciting activities to look forward to on the day:
1. Art Painting by Splatter Art Factory
Splatter Art Factory brings its crazy, messy fun to the festival for your kids to have a blast, while creating unique pieces of art. A pop-up enclosed space will be available all day, where little Picassos will get dressed in paint coverall suits before heading in for some colourful chaos. Throw, fling, squirt and splatter paint on a blank canvas- there are (almost) no rules to follow! A keychain bear paint-pouring activity will also be available for those in the mood for a calmer craft activity on the day.
Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Venue: Junior Playground
Price: RM35 per pax for 15 minutes (A4 canvas painting), RM18 (Bear keychain)
Age: 2 years old and above
2. Workshops by AISM
From tie-dying activities, to science experiments and slime workshops, the AISM teachers are all geared up to take your kids on a journey of exploration, discovery, and imagination! Activities are all free and suitable for children 12 years old and under. Click here for the full schedule.
- STEM Activity: Spaghetti Structures
Engineers use scientific knowledge, but practical testing, problem-solving and teamwork are all involved, too. Building tall, strong towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows requires putting all of these skills into action. Get your little engineers to build the tallest, strongest structure possible… using only spaghetti and marshmallows!
- Get Your Hands Dirty!
Roll up your sleeves and prepare to touch worms! This inspiring workshop is set to help young learners understand the importance of regeneration. Your kids will walk away with practical tips and ideas on how each of us can make a big difference, one seed at a time.

Clothespins lying around the house can be turned into the cutest little puppets. This workshop will get your kids creating clothespin puppets and working on their fine motor skills, tactile sensitivity of fingers, visual perception, attention, thinking, speech, memory and imagination!
- Peking Opera Mask
Introduce your children to the traditional culture of the Han identity in China with Peking opera masks or “Lian Pu”. In Beijing Opera, different types of facial paintings express different significances, and this creative workshop will get your kids to design their very own mask to symbolize the different meanings to their character.
3. Obstacle Course by Ready Steady Go Kids
Ready, steady, go! Watch your kids make their way through a colourful, fun obstacle course set up by the instructors of Australia’s largest multi-sport and exercise program. Expect many rounds of jumping, balancing, and navigating, as your little ones work on their gross motor skills through play.
